Whoa, We're Halfway There!

Just a quick update to let anyone who's still listening know that I've passed to 30,000 word mark on my NaNoWriMo novel. It looks like the book itself is going to end up being longer than 50,000 words when it's finished, but as long as I get that far by the end of the month, I still get my nifty completion certificate, and a link to Literacity on the NaNoWriMo front page!

And of course, when it's all finished, I'll be sending around free PDF copies of the book (or at least excerpts, and if I do that it'll be mainly for copyright reasons; I'll still try to keep the actual book's cost extremely cheap).

If you're curious about the style and subject of the novel, please stop by my NaNoWriMo profile page, and read an excerpt. As I hinted before, it's sort of a dark fantasy coming-of-age tale. I started out trying to write like Clive Barker, but I'm finding I sound more and more like a violent, misanthropic version of the early C. S. Lewis trying to imitate Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. God knows where that's coming from.

The work continues to evolve and grow, and I continue trying to keep it in check. Hopefully the balance I strike will produce an enjoyable sprawling adventure. See you all at the finish line!
